Hi, I'm Renato. For over 25 years I've been designing and delivering highly-available distributed systems, mostly in financial services, telecom and cloud. Today I focus on architecture design, leading complex integrations and bridging business and engineering. In my spare time I use AI to prototype products and automate anything tedious enough to do twice — a few of those experiments are just below.
From the command line to architecture
I started out writing code and, over 25 years, moved up the stack: from software engineer to tech lead and architect of distributed systems and enterprise integrations. Along the way I worked across telecom, middleware, transportation systems and, mainly, financial services — including Open Finance initiatives and banking and fintech projects.
Today I lead end-to-end solution design: I take part in technical proposals (RFPs), define architecture, estimate effort and help build the right team for each project. I like balancing technical depth with business alignment — architecture only matters if it solves the right problem.
I'm based in Santo André, SP, Brazil, native in Portuguese and advanced (C2) in English.

I act as architect on financial services (FSI) RFPs, providing solution design, effort estimation and team sizing. I'm also solution architect for B2B telecom offerings and work on fintech and banking projects, including an MVP charging management system and initiatives aligned with Open Finance.
Led DevOps initiatives for a telecommunications digital transformation project, designing data and platform pipelines and improving deployment automation and reliability.
Managed internal platform engineering products focused on automation and operational efficiency, delivering release-management tooling and acting as a bridge between engineering and business.
Led DevSecOps strategy and platform evolution aligned with global standards, promoting DevSecOps culture and evaluating tools for security, automation and delivery pipelines.
Key contributor to cloud computing R&D, leading the design and launch of an OpenStack-based public cloud platform, plus microservices and platform components at scale. Earlier roles included Project Coordinator, Software Engineer and Senior System Analyst on payment platforms and core infrastructure.
The early career years, building the technical foundation: telecom billing systems, middleware and integration, mobile sync and metro control systems.
